Who We Are GEM Network is an organization of dioceses who have determined to share prayers, ideas, dreams, hopes, and strategies about Global Mission. As a Network GEM consists of Bishops, who determine, on behalf of their dioceses, to join GEM, and Representatives named by the Bishop who serve officially as members of the GEM Annual Meeting. Bishops and Representatives can serve on the GEM Board, which normally meets three times a year, once just before the Annual Meeting. Click on the Gem Board button to see the list of the current board. The Annual Meeting is held in conjunction with the GEM Educational Institute, the major gathering of GEM Bishops, Representatives, and interested individuals. Each GEM Institute has a particular focus, but every Institute has the same goal - to provide a context for sharing of mission concerns among those attending. GEM Network undertakes particular projects on behalf of its membership or for the whole church. The first and most important project has been the development of the Gem Handbook. GEM also publishes FACETS, in which are articles, reviews and longer thought pieces of interest to mission minded dioceses. GEM Network is governed by By-Laws, which are part of our articles of incorporation as a non-profit agency in the State of New York. But mostly GEM is people - diocesan leadership committed to the expansion of the Global Mission of the Episcopal Church.
